ESPN.com: NBA Power Rankings. 12 - Utah Jazz - This season can't be as chaotic as the last, when Utah had all those free agents-to-be and countless injuries. But the lingering uncertainty about Boozer's future and the lack of new blood are sufficiently disconcerting.
Nobody is giving the Jazz a chance this year. I mean nobody. I know its only the preseason and it doesn’t really matter what these pundits think because most of the time they’re wrong anyway but I’m curious. I’m curious how the Jazz are going to do this year. I mean nobody is giving them a chance but hey, what’s new right? But look at the team we have. We have a very talented team and a lot of depth on the bench. The problem is we have a couple of guys who play their ass off every night like D Will and P Mill and then we have guys like Boozer and AK who frustrate the shit out of me just about every other game with their lack of effort. Not to mention the inconsistent play of Okur and Korver. Memo will come out and score 25 points one night and go 2 for 9 and score 5 points the next.
Our depth goes well beyond our starters though. Sloan made a mistake last year in not playing Ronnie Price more but I think he learned form that mistake. Price could be very good this year coming off the bench for Williams. Miles still has a way to go but he seems to improve every year. Korver needs to do more this year than just shoot free throws and Harpring is getting older but still very valuable coming off the bench.
Brewer can’t shoot we know that but he’s a decent defender and very athletic. He’s an important asset to our fast break game. If Carlos Boozer can come out and play his ass off, this being his contract year and all… If we find a way to motivate AK to play like we know he can… If we could get Memo and pretty boy Korver to be a little more consistent… And if D Will and Millsap keep doing their thing this team could surprise a lot of people and make a serious championship run…. If, if, if… Yeah I know.
